Geographical Analysis, Urban Modeling, Spatial statistics

deadline:
Mar 10th2013
Geo-and-Mod 2013 Giuseppe Borruso (University of Trieste, Italy), Beniamino Murgante (University of Basilicata, Italy), Hartmut Asche (University of Potsdam, Germany) The growth of spatial data infrastructures produced an increase of geographical data availability at any scale and worldwide. Within a few years, all over the planet many Clearinghouse nodes have been arisen and more rapidly they have become Geo-portals with the main task of facilitating geographic data searching. At the same time the growing of availability of geographic data and information involve also private sector (e.g. Google Earth, Microsoft Virtual Earth, etc.). This growth has not been fully coupled by an increase of knowledge to support spatial decisions. Spatial analytical techniques and geographical analysis and modelling methods are therefore required in order to analyse data and to facilitate the decision process at all levels. Old geographical issues can find an answer thanks to new methods and instruments, while new issues are developing, challenging the researchers for new solutions. This workshop is aimed at contributing to the development of new techniques and methods to improve the process on knowledge acquisition.

Quantum Mechanics: Computational Strategies and Applications

deadline:
Mar 10th, 2013

QMCSA 2013
Mirco Ragni, (Universidade Estadual de Feira de San- tana, Brazil) Vincenzo Aquilanti (Perugia University, Italy), Ana Carla Peixoto Bitencourt (Universidade Federal do Reconcavo da Bahia, Brazil), Roger Anderson (University of California, USA), and Frederico Vasconcellos Prudente, (Universidade Federal da Bahia, Brazil) The purpose of this session is of collect works developed using the first principle of the quantum mechanics and oriented to the applications in different areas. Today, the solution of the Schroedinger equation does not
represent only the quantum description of atoms and molecules. Quantum mechanics, jointly with suitable computational strategies, is also an important tool that allows to design molecular structures with specific purposes.
For example, strategic areas of research, like biology, quantum computation, and nano-structured materials, are strongly dependent from theoretical studies.

Spatial Data Structures and Algorithms for Geoinformatics

deadline:
Mar 10th2013

SDSAG 2013

Farid Karimipour (University of Tehran, Iran, and Vienna University of Technology, Austria)

Spatial data commonly refers to data located in a – typically 2D or 3D – space. Spatial data structures and algorithms are used to efficiently store, retrieve, manipulate, and visualize such data. This topic is of interest for researchers of variety of fields including Geographic Information Systems (GIS), robotics, computer graphics, virtual reality, solid modeling, and computer‐aided design. Especially, the recent improvements in collection of spatial data from the geographical space – in terms of type, volume, speed, accuracy, dimension, etc. – has provoked the researchers of geoinformatics to deploy more efficient data structures and algorithms to interact with such data. This workshop aims to concentrate on the main issue raised by the recent research in this area and presents the achievements. .
